More About Hazel

Some Background...

Hazel Farrer is a Nature and Wellbeing Coach, Life Coach, Somatic Therapist, Corporate Trainer, Mindfulness Teacher, and Climate-Conscious Facilitator. Her work is rooted in the Celtic symbolism of the Hazel tree — a source of wisdom, intuition, and inspiration — and her life has been a living expression of those values.

Raised between Zambia and Scotland, Hazel’s early years were infused with nature, curiosity, and a love of learning. Her career has spanned continents and sectors, from senior management roles in UK charities and government, to holistic health, education, and coaching in South Africa, Portugal, and now back in her native Scotland.

With a degree in leisure management, Hazel pioneered initiatives in children’s play, disability inclusion, women in sport, and affirmative action. She became a national trainer and assessor, a motivational speaker, and a media presenter — always driven by a passion for creativity, community, and transformation.

A life-changing injury led Hazel to explore holistic therapies, adult education, and eventually launch Hazel Tree Coaching in South Africa. There, she blended corporate training with nature-based wellness practices, often working in the African bush to help individuals and teams reconnect with purpose and vitality.

In Portugal, Hazel deepened her practice with an MA in Mindfulness-Based Approaches, researching the link between nature, mindfulness, and climate action. She founded Mindful-Nature Pathways, designing immersive programs, retreats, and festivals that foster wellbeing, ecological awareness, and personal growth.

Today, Hazel is a global coordinator for the Climate Coaching Alliance, supporting coaches and leaders in their sustainability journeys. She continues to facilitate courses, retreats, and workshops — online and in person — helping people align with their values, reconnect with nature, and live with intention.

Surrounded once again by wild Scottish landscapes and Hazel trees, she lives by the quote:
